Manufacturer's Manual Click Here! ThinkPad X22 and X23 features Keyboard and TrackPoint with enhanced features The system is Euro hardware ready. The TrackPoint with enhanced features is a part of this keyboard: 85 key keyboard with imbedded numeric keypad and integrated TrackPoint(TM) with enhanced features, which emulates all the mouse functions. It sits between the "G" and "H" keys. 86 key keyboard with imbedded numeric keypad and integrated TrackPoint(TM) with enhanced features. 90 DBCS key keyboard with imbedded numeric keypad and integrated TrackPoint(TM) with enhanced features for Japanese systems. The keyboard has a "Fn key" which is a special key and is located in the lower left corner. The Fn key allows the user to instantly activate the following operational features by pressing the Fn key and a designated function key: Battery power status display Standby/Suspend/Hibernation Switching between Display devices Power management mode The keyboard has the familiar layout of a ThinkPad notebook with function keys that allow you to quickly access system functions such as power management control.The TrackPoint with enhanced features incorporates the Press-to-Select and Release-to-Select function. Just tap the TrackPoint to speed icon launches and help reduce key strokes. The new programmable center button enables fast scrolling of Web sites and documents or fast panning across wide spreadsheets. Switch to the innovative magnifying glass feature to enlarge screen views in any application. External interface Two Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. The USB ports are supported by Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 98, Windows 95 OSR2.1 or later, Windows 2000, and Windows XP Pro Stereo audio jacks -- Provides for the connection of external stereo speakers/headphones and microphone and can provide SRS 3D sound. External Display Connector -- External display port for connecting one of the supported displays that may be used in desktop environment instead of the LCD that is standard with the system. Also supporting an attachment of ISO 9241-3 enabled monitors. Dual Display of LCD and an external display is also supported. PC CARD slots -- The ThinkPad X22 and X23 system, conforms to the PC Card Standard which incorporates the new CardBus PC Card as well as Card and Socket Services Specification release 2.1. Other PC CARD adapters that comply with this standard may also function, but have not been tested. NOTE: Presently available in Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows XP Pro. System Expansion Connector -- Provides connection to the ThinkPad Docking Solutions: ThinkPad Port Replicator ThinkPad Dock AC Adapter The AC adapter is an alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) converter to supply the necessary power to the computer. The AC adapter also charges the battery pack when it is installed in the computer. NOTE: Standard battery shipped with these systems Li-Ion battery pack. A Li-Ion Battery Pack is shipped with the system. This same battery is also available as an optional feature for the X22 and X23 so that customers can order a spare battery. The battery pack is an internal power source to the computer when the AC adapter is not available. The battery pack is rechargeable and is charged using the AC adapter with the system. The user can determine how much battery power remains by using the Fuel-Guage ThinkPad utility program. This displays the percent charge remaining, whether there is one or two batteries in the system. PC Cards which do not support the power management function may cause the shorter battery operation hours. PC Card The PC card slot accommodates either one Type I or one Type II. The Compact Flash slot accommodates one Type II. Audio The system is equipped with audio in/out jacks for stereo speakers, headphone, or external microphone. The system supports Sound Blaster audio applications.
