ThinkPad i Series 1400 Features
LCD Display
The 13.3-inch (measured diagonally) XGA TFT and 12.1-inch (measured diagonally) TFT display provide superior viewing and help reduce the glare indoors.

Keyboard and TrackPoint IV
Ergonomically designed for comfort, the ThinkPad i Series 1400 features a full-sized keyboard with a roomy sculpted palm rest. The TrackPoint IV with Press-to-Select provides extremely accurate and convenient pointer and cursor control; just press the TrackPoint to speed program launches and reduce keystrokes. In addition, the exclusive TrackPoint pointing device has an Internet Scroll Bar that liberates users from the stationary scroll bar at the side of the window and allows for quick Web page scrolling. It even works on documents and spreadsheets.

Processor
The systems now have 300 MHz Pentium processors with MMX technology and 512 KB L2 cache. This is an outstanding notebook computer feature value at the low ThinkPad i Series price.

Memory
The ThinkPad i Series 1400 uses non-parity, 64-bit SDRAM memory. Standard memory is 32 MB or 64 MB, expandable to a maximum of 256 MB.

PCMCIA
The Type III slot can accommodate either two Type I, two Type II, or one Type III PC card. CardBus PC Card and Zoomed Video Port PC Card (only lower slot) are supported.

Storage
All-in-one design provides quick and easy access with a high-capacity 4.3 GB HDD, 1.44 MB diskette drive, and 24x-10x maximum variable-speed CD-ROM.

Audio
The audio subsystem supports multimedia applications enhanced with 16-bit stereo audio that is Sound blaster-Pro-compatible. It features built-in stereo speakers and an extremely quick CD-ROM. Altec Lansing SoundGuide speakers are located on the bottom of the display to direct sound right at the user and provide maximum stereo separation. Along with the Dynamic Equalization Circuit, which uses proprietary bass boost and signal equalization techniques, the i Series 1400 produces sound with outstanding clarity and dynamic impact.

USB port
These systems have the full complement of ports (enhanced parallel, serial, external display, and USB port). The Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, which connects external drives, is supported only by Windows 98.

Video
PCI bus support with advanced video acceleration provides exceptional video performance. Advanced multimedia features include a NeoMagic MagicGraph 128-bit SVGA accelerator with 2.0 MB video memory.

Modem
Using the 56K(1) integrated modem, you can cruise the Web or send e-mail and files easily. V.90 compatibility ensures connectivity to the maximum number of modems by implementing internationally recognized standards.

Note (1) V.90 and other technology modems are designed to receive data at up to 56 Kbps from a compatible service provider, and transmitting data at up to 31.2 Kbps. Public V.90 or K56Flex(*) networks currently limit maximum download speeds to about 53 Kbps. Actual speeds depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.

Note (*) K56Flex is a trademark of Lucent.

Other features
CD-ROM plays up to six hours with the system off and it features exterior controls.
