ThinkPad A30 and A30p features

LCD Display
The A30 ThinkPad family includes large 381-mm (15.0-inch) and 358.1-mm (14.1-inch) active matrix displays. Resolutions are shown in the following tables.

For ThinkPad A30 2652-3xx, 381-mm (15.0-in) TFT with resolution of 1400 x 1050 (16 MB VRAM)
For ThinkPad A30 2652-1xx, 2652-2xx, and 2652-4xx (16 MB VRAM)

1xx = 358.1-mm (14.1-in) TFT
2xx and 4xx = 381-mm (15.0-in) TFT
with resolution of 1024 x 768

For ThinkPad A30p 2653-6xx with 1600 x 1200 resolution 381-mm (15.0-in) TFT (Total of 32 MB of VRAM)

Keyboard and TrackPoint with Press-to-Select
The spill-proof key- board with Web-centric keys have the familiar layout of a ThinkPad with function keys that allow quick access to system functions. Use the TrackPoint with Press-to-Select to select objects by pressing the TrackPoint cap.

Processor
A30
The systems have a Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M with enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology at 933 MHz, 1.0 GHz, or 1.13 GHz with 512 KB of on-board cache.
A30p
Mobile Pentium III processor-M at 1.2 GHz with enhanced SpeedStep technology and 512 KB full-speed on-board L2 cache.

Memory
PC133 MHz, non-parity memory, expandable to a maximum of 1.0 GB with 64, 128, 256, or 512 MB DIMMs. Two internal slots are available for one extra memory module for customers who require a memory upgrade. The 128 MB card can be replaced with a 512 MB card and another 512 MB card added to the extra slot.

PCMCIA
The Type III slot can accommodate two Type I or two Type II, or one Type III PC card. Both 16-bit and 32-bit cards are supported.

Communications bay
Mini-PCI and communication cards for integrated network and communications.

PC Card support software
The auto configurator and memory device driver enable supported PCMCIA cards by sensing them automatically. PCMCIA cards supported by the auto configurator and memory device driver are listed in the Sales Manual.

Optionall 15, 30, and 48 GB HDDs are also available. Two HDDs can be used concurrently to offer expanded storage. These HDDs issionaue an alert if a failure is pending.

Excellent sound quality with two stereo speakers, 16-bit stereo audio supporting Sound Blaster Pro, built-in stereo speakers, and volume control.

One for external stereo speakers or headphone

Video
The A30p only; AGP 2x with video acceleration provides exceptional video performance.

Infrared (IR)
IR transceiver for wireless file and data transfer and printing. ThinkPad A30 and A30p models are compatible with the Infrared Data Association (IrDA) IR data link specification with speeds up to 4 Mbps.

Other features
Enhanced parallel, S-Video out, external display, pointer-keyboard-keypad, serial, and two USB ports. Additional connector supports the optional Port Replicator and dock.

AC Adapter
This ac-to-dc converter supplies the necessary power to the computer. The ac adapter also charges the battery pack when it is installed in the computer.

Li-Ion Battery Pack
A 6 Cell Li-Ion Battery Pack is shipped with the ThinkPad A30 and a 9 Cell Li-Ion battery is shipped with the A30p. This same battery is also available as an optional feature for the A30 and A30p so that customers can order a spare battery. The battery pack is an internal power source to the computer when the ac adapteris not available.The battery pack is rechargeable and is charged using the ac adapter with the system.
