You will still need to solder the three wires or used the Micro Grabbers to get too the pins on the EEPROM. The newer board has the connections for the 24RF08 chip and for the pc8394T-VJG super I/O IC with TPM ( Trusted Platform Module ) functions. Instead of being power by three batteries now it is power though the USB port so this will make it easy to run power instead of getting batteries for the device. You will still need to go though the serial port to communicate too the EEPROM... If you have used the old 24RF08 Reader? This will work just like it but now support the newer models of ThinkPad’s.
Please be aware that you will need Allservice software to make this device work with the newer ThinkPad’s models. So please make sure that you get the software with this device. The 24RF08 Reader Version 2.0 include the serial cable, USB cable, 24RF08 Chip Board, Data wires and the 24RF08 Reader device.
