  • Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery now supports Microsoft Office 2007!
Unlock Password-Protected Office 2007 documents with Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery

Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) March 7, 2007 -- Elcomsoft, a leader in password recovery, has added support for Miocrosoft Office 2007 passwords to Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery. The program offers administrators a comprehensive solution for recovering passwords to documents and files when employees forget their passwords, or when they deliberately add passwords to documents in an effort to sabotage their companies. In addition to supporting Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP/2003 documents, PDF files, PKCS#12 certificates, PGP and LM/NTLM hashes used in Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 logon passwords, PGP Whole Disk Encryption, Microsoft Money and OneNote, Intuit Quicken, Lotus Notes ID files, MD5 hashes, the program can now handle new Microsoft Office 2007 encryption.

Microsoft Office documents security is considerably enhanced in version 2007. The encryption information block is the same as in Office XP/2003, but Office 2007 always uses AES encryption (is the strongest industry-standard algorithm available) with 128 bit key and SHA-1 hashing; besides, new version improves the algorithm of converting passwords into keys: 50000 SHA-1 sequential iterations are being performed now. You would never notice it when opening a file because the whole process requires less than a second. But in a password recovery process, the speed drops significantly: one can test only about 500 passwords per second even on cutting-edge processors such as Intel Core 2 Duo. Thus, one computer can find 4-5 letter passwords only, and so the only way to recover longer passwords to Office 2007 documents is using a cluster. 1000 computers are able to maintain the speed at 500,000 passwords -- comparable to the speed of password recovery on a single computer for older Microsoft Office documents.

  • Elcomsoft System Recovery Goes Corporate with Active Directory Support
Elcomsoft has released the Professional version of Elcomsoft System Recovery, a boot-disk application that makes it easy to access your computer's Windows password settings. If you're locked out of your computer, Elcomsoft System Recovery will give you access and let you troubleshoot problems that are preventing you from running Windows. Elcomsoft System Recovery now works not only with local computer accounts, but also with domain controllers running Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server, as well as Windows Server 2003, with full Active Directory support.

Under a special agreement with Microsoft, Elcomsoft System Recovery is based upon Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE), a hardware-independent minimal Windows system that replaces the antique DOS boot disk that was used to set up new computer systems.

Elcomsoft System Recovery is completely self-contained, allowing you to access each of your computers without the need for third-party or proprietary software. Now you can troubleshoot all of your computers with a single, easy-to-use program. Simply insert the CD, and boot your computer. If you don't have a CD or DVD drive, you can set Elcomsoft System Recovery to boot from a USB Flash Drive.

It's easy to dump password hashes from SAM/SYSTEM files or from the Active Directory database, and write them to a text file for further analysis and password recovery. You can get a list of all user accounts (local or from the Active Directory database) and their properties, including Administrator accounts. It's simple to reset and change the passwords of any of these accounts, including the account of Domain Administrator.

You can look up account privileges, detect accounts with empty passwords, and assign Administrator privileges to any (local) user account. It's easy to enable or unlock accounts that have been disabled or locked. The program will instantly recover passwords for special accounts such as IUSR_ and HelpAssistant, and can even recover passwords to many user accounts in a matter of seconds using effective pre-configured brute-force and dictionary attacks.

The program supports Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista. With full Unicode compliance, Elcomsoft System Recovery supports all US and non-US versions of Windows, with multilingual user names and passwords. The program detects which version of Windows you're using, and gives you access to your Registry files. Elcomsoft System Recovery is completely compatible with all PC hardware, including RAID and SCSI devices.

Elcomsoft System Recovery Professional costs $599(US) for a single-user license, includes express delivery worldwide, and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. The Standard version (without Active Directory support) is also available. For more information, please visit http://www.crackpassword.com/products/prs/mswin/esr/.

  • Break 40-bit Adobe PDF Encryption in Minutes with Elcomsoft's Advanced PDF Password Recovery
Moscow, Russia - March 15, 2007 - ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. has released an Enterprise version of its award-winning Advanced PDF Password Recovery software. This program makes it easy to remove both password encryption and usage restrictions from Adobe Acrobat PDF files. APDFPR Enterprise now comes with support of all Adobe Acrobat versions (up to 8.0), including those that use AES encryption, and super-fast guaranteed recovery of PDF files with 40-bit encryption using state-of-the-art "time-memory trade-off" technology.

With the increasing popularity of PDF formatted file, comes an increasing number of problems which occur when authors forget the passwords to their source documents. ElcomSoft has revised version 3.0 of all three editions of its Advanced PDF Password Recovery software (Enterprise, Professional, and Standard) to allow the seemingly impossible recovery of passwords for these documents. This software package handles both owner and user passwords used to protect PDF documents. The latest addition to ElcomSoft's family of password recovery software allows business managers to recover lost and destroyed passwords. It also helps in dealing with employees who, intentionally or unintentionally, are unable to edit and print password-protected PDF files.

APDFPR is also a state-of-the-art computer forensics tool that could be used by law enforcement, military and intelligence agencies to open secure documents. PDF documents protected with access restriction passwords can be decrypted instantly, allowing full access to the document. For documents with "user" passwords (that could not be opened without that password), the program blazes through brute-force password attempts at a rate of a few hundred thousand passwords per second!

The code has been effectively optimized for most CPUs such as Pentium II/III, Pentium 4, Intel Core/Core 2 (Duo) and Athlon. More sophisticated methods are available, such as applying all words from a dictionary. ElcomSoft's website has dictionaries for more than 20 different languages, from English to Swahili.

Even if the above methods fail because the password is too long and complex, the program runs a special key search attack which gives a 100% success rate on files with 40-bit encryption (used in all Adobe Acrobat 4 files, and most files from more recent versions). This may take some time to run, but is well worth the time if your document is very important. If you have a dual processor system, APDFPR takes advantage of it to double the performance of this software.

On modern systems with Intel Core Duo CPUs, the document can be recovered in maximum 3-4 days, regardless of the password length and complexity. And in APDFPR Enterprise, ElcomSoft has introduced a new "rainbow attack" subsystem -- it is shipped with a DVD that contains special pre-computed hash tables that will allow you to decrypt most (an estimated 99.6 percent) PDF files in just minutes instead of days, even on slow computers.

Advanced PDF Password Recovery Enterprise costs $999(US) for a single-user license and includes express delivery worldwide. Professional and Standard versions, with reduced feature sets, are available at affordable prices. The program runs under Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista.
